BIG BIKE RIDE IPSWICH

big bike ride ipswich, raising money for local nspcc, alton water, ipswich

The organisers hope to raise in excess of £5,000 which will go some way toward the £380,000 needed to sustain the work of the Suffolk Project.

The more money you help raise the more the NSPCC can do for children and young people.

£126 could enable 3 children to have an in-depth session with one of the ChildLine volunteer Counsellors giving them someone to turn to and hope for the future.

Saddle up and join the Alton Water Big Bike Ride in support of the NSPCC Childs Voice Appeal on Sunday 21st June.

A child’s cry for help should never be ignored but sadly not all children get the protection and support they need at home.  That’s why the NSPCC runs two free 24-hour helplines: ChildLine, for children in distress or danger, and the NSPCC Helpline, for adults worried about a child.

The Big Bike Ride is designed for cyclists of any age and ability…. The venue is stunningly beautiful providing a most interesting waterside cycling route in attractive countryside. You will experience the 3 mile nature trail on the south shore including woodland, butterfly garden, wildflower meadow, ponds and a bird hide.  There will be much activity on the water with sailing and windsurfing……. there’s just so much to do and see.  Take a picnic or visit the Café…. Alton Water has it all….

No bike?  Hire one from Alton Water Cycle Hire 01473 328873
Don't let the lack of a cycle stop you taking part. There's a wide range of Cycles available for Hire at reasonable costs.

The East Suffolk NSPCC volunteers plan to hold the 2009 NSPCC Big Bike Ride at Alton Water in support of the NSPCC’s Child Voice Appeal.  The Appeal aims to raise £50m over the next three years so that the charity can expand its vital helpline services.
A child’s cry for help should never be ignored but sadly not all children get the protection and support they need at home.  That’s why the NSPCC runs two free 24-hour helplines: ChildLine, for children in distress or danger, and the NSPCC Helpline, for adults worried about a child.
Last year 1172 adults in Suffolk called the NSPCC’s helpline. Across the UK 95,000 adults called the helpline. During the same period 134 children in Ipswich called ChildLine from a landline or payphone. However, landline and payphone calls represent only 20% of the calls ChildLine receives.  The charity wants to develop and expand its helplines so that no calls go unanswered.
In Suffolk the NSPCC also runs the Suffolk Therapeutic Service.  Based in Ipswich, the service offers a range of therapeutic services to children and young people who have suffered significant harm and trauma as a result of abuse or neglect.
